The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the 19th Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Soccer Match at HKU’s Stanley Ho Sports Centre today (26 April). Professor Chen Lin, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business) of HKU, and Professor KO Wing-hung, Associate Vice-President (Student Experience) of CUHK, officiated at the kick-off ceremony.
Both teams gave their full effort on the pitch, delivering fast-paced attacking and defensive plays that showcased high-level teamwork and sportsmanship. After a keenly contested match, , HKU won by 7:2.
The Vice-Chancellors’ Cup Soccer Match was first played in 2003 to commemorate the collaboration of the two universities during SARS. Since then, it has become an annual sports event that aims to deepen the friendship between the two universities. Including today’s game, CUHK has won 11 games, HKU has won four, and the teams have drawn four times.
