18 Aug 2017
The Annual Meeting of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/Technical Committee 106 (TC 106) Dentistry will be held in Hong Kong from 20 to 25 August 2017 at the main campus of the University of Hong Kong (HKU). It will be the second time that Hong Kong hosts this international meeting and the first time was in 1986.
The meeting is hosted by the Innovation and Technology Commission, which is a Correspondent Member of the ISO, and organised by Faculty of Dentistry, the University of Hong Kong.
The ISO/TC 106 Dentistry Annual Meeting brings delegates and experts together to continue the important work of developing international dental standards—standards that affect the health and safety of dental consumers around the world and play a vital role in oral health. The scope of ISO/TC 106 is “Standardization in oral health care” including:
• terms and definitions;
• performance, safety, and specification requirements of dental products; and
• clinically relevant laboratory test methods, all of which contribute to improved global health
This is the 53rd Annual Meeting of ISO/TC 106 Dentistry and over 65 meeting sessions are scheduled. More than 300 experts and delegates in dentistry from over 20 member economies and organisations in liaison with ISO are attending these meetings. New international dental standards are expected to be born for improving patient safety, and ensuring the quality of dental materials and oral care products.
The ISO/TC 106 Dentistry, currently having 44 member economies with various sub-committees and working groups, has published 175 ISO standards.
